Lifeguarding Training and Re-certifications
at the Summit Family Aquatic Center
Lifeguard Full Class
The Lifeguard class teaches participants the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.
The course content and activities prepare the participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to
emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. All classes are mandatory. Two certifications can be earned from
taking this class. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer which is valid for one year, and Lifeguarding/First Aid which
is valid for three years. You must be 15 years of age by the date of the last class. A government issued ID must be
shown to the instructor as proof of age.
Class will be held Monday through Friday starting on Monday Aug. 4, 2008 and ending on
Friday Aug. 8, 2008. Class is at the SFAC from 8am-noon, and at the Summit Recreation
Department from 12:30-3pm.
Resident and Staff Fee is $275
Non residents are welcome at the fee of $325.
Lifeguard Re-certification/Challenge
Are you already a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard? Is your certification about to expire? Did you know that
you can take the Lifeguard Challenge and do not have to repeat the entire course? The Lifeguard Challenge enables
you to get recertified without having to take the entire certification program.

The cost of the program is $175 for Residents and Staff and $200 for non residents.
The Summit Family Aquatic Center is located at 100 Ashland Ave. in Summit, NJ. The Summit Recreation Department is
located on 100 Morris Ave. in Summit, NJ.
