Colonial Crossroads Responds to New Providence Blaze
NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. (December 9, 2007) Local Red Cross Disaster Services responded to a call from the New Providence
Office of Emergency Management on Sunday, when a fire broke out shortly after 7:30 a.m. American Red Cross Colonial Crossroads
Chapter volunteers Linda de Quintal (Fanwood), Anthony Novellino (Denville) and Director of Response Barb Chestnut (Long Hill)
are pictured left to right at the Incident Command Post with Thomas J. Murray, Jr., a Summit resident and member of Union County
Fire Mutual Aid #4.
The Red Cross, together with the New Providence Fire Department Auxiliary, provided coffee and snacks to first responders and
used the incident as an opportunity for the organization’s emergency response team to practice response skills in an authentic,
real-time scenario. Red Cross services generally include providing shelter, meals, financial aid and emotional support to
victims of fires and other emergencies, plus support for first responders.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money.
