Red Cross Responds to Multi-Family Fire in Summit
Our Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to a multi-family house fire in Summit, N.J. at approximately 2:00pm on December 8th. The DAT members arrived with a two-pronged mission: to support other first responders as well as provide immediate shelter, food and basic necessities to the affected families.
“The response to this multi-family fire in Summit is a perfect example of why a highly-trained, ready-to-respond Disaster Action Team is essential. The Colonial Crossroads Chapter trains in advance to be able to help those in need. Part of this response was reaching out to other community partners to work together to provide these individuals -- ranging in age from infants to seniors -- with immediate basic necessities,” says Christy Hodde, executive director of the Colonial Crossroads Chapter.
Please help us ensure that we will always be here to help those in a time of crisis. We receive no funding from national Red Cross for local disasters like this. We need your help, Summit needs your help.
