Course Information
Lifeguarding Tomorrow is a program for youth that provides a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. Participants will learn about the causes of downing, and how to prevent drowning and diving accidents. They will improve their swimming stroke mechanics, endurance, strength and physical fitness level for the skills necessary to become a lifeguard. In addition they will learn basic first aid, CPR/AED, and professionalism.
This class is designed for ages 11-14, however there is no age restriction for registration.
Prerequisites
- Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the front or side
- Tread water for 1 minute using arms and legs
- Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet under water
Cost
The cost for Summit residents is $225
Non resident price is $250.
Location
All classes will take place at the Summit Family Aquatic Center
100 Ashwood Ave., Summit, NJ.
