Adapted Aquatics
Adapted Aquatics is a swimming program for children and adults with physical, mental, emotional or neurological disorders. Red Cross-certified volunteers from the Colonial Crossroads Chapter have been teaching swimming skills to these special needs clients for over 40 years.
Water safety instructors, lifeguards, swim team members and strong swimmers volunteer as group swimming leaders or one-to-one aides, if needed. They help clients who need assistance in the dressing room and with mobility around the pool facility.
The program is held on Saturday mornings during the school year at The Connection for Women and Families, 79 Maple St., Summit, NJ 07901. A nominal fee is charged. To register, contact the Health & Safety dept. at the Summit office at (908) 273-2076.
Volunteers are always needed. If you are a good swimmer, we will train you to teach the students in the program. If you are not a swimmer, you could assist our clients in the locker room. Click here for a volunteer application.
